The Middle East is a region where car is king and fuel is cheap, frequently leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly ways of moving.
But this year, as protests throughout the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the problem of finding alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.
In an area that has among the highest carbon footprints worldwide, one organization is taking advantage of the growing pressure to find alternatives to oil. It's established the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving rewarding too, already their client-list contains McDonald's.
