The Nigerian U17 women’s team, the Flamingos, were eliminated from the 2024 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup following a 2-0 defeat to the United States in the quarterfinals at Santiago de los Caballeros. Coach Bankole Olowookere’s team, featuring Harmony Chidi and Onyedikachi Ekezie, battled to keep pace with the USA but faced challenges after conceding a penalty shortly before halftime. The penalty, converted by Kennedy Fuller, gave the USA a 1-0 lead.
